Senator Ajagunla Throws Weight Behind Adeleke’s Re-Election Bid, Says Osun Ready for Next Phase of Development

Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Ajagunnla Olubiyi Fadeyi, has formally endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, describing the governor’s administration as one that has delivered impactful leadership and laid a solid foundation for greater development across Osun State.
Fadeyi, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Osun Central in the 2027 elections, made his position known in a statement he personally signed on Monday.
The lawmaker said his endorsement reflected the confidence of PDP stakeholders and residents of Osun Central in Governor Adeleke’s leadership and his commitment to the welfare and development of the state.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated that governance is about service and delivering tangible benefits to the people.
“This endorsement is a reaffirmation of our confidence in the Governor’s leadership and his commitment to the development and wellbeing of the people of Osun State,” Fadeyi stated.
Reflecting on the performance of the Adeleke administration, the senator said the state had recorded visible progress in infrastructure and other key sectors, while workers and pensioners had also benefited from improved welfare measures.
“The journey over the past years has been remarkable. Governor Adeleke has demonstrated that leadership is fundamentally about service, impact and putting the interests of the people first,” he said.
He added that the administration’s achievements had strengthened the case for continuity, stressing that there was still significant work ahead that required sustained leadership.
“Across Osun State, we have witnessed significant interventions in infrastructure and other critical sectors. We have also seen greater attention to the welfare of workers and pensioners, including the prompt payment of salaries and pensions,” he said.
Fadeyi noted that while the government had recorded notable successes, more opportunities remained to be explored for the benefit of residents.
“These achievements deserve recognition, but more importantly, they demonstrate that there is still enormous potential to be unlocked. There is much more work to be done, and we believe Governor Adeleke deserves the opportunity to consolidate the gains already recorded and take Osun to an even greater height,” he said.
Expressing confidence in the governor’s chances ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, the senator declared that residents of the state were prepared to support the continuation of the current administration.
“Osun Central is ready. Osun State is ready. And together, we are ready to take the next giant leap forward,” he said.
He further expressed optimism that another term for Adeleke would usher in accelerated development, expanded opportunities and greater prosperity for the people of the state.
“We look forward to another four years of purposeful leadership, accelerated development, expanded opportunities and shared prosperity under Governor Ademola Adeleke,” he stated.
Fadeyi said the issue at stake went beyond politics and elections, insisting that it was about safeguarding the future of Osun State.
“This is not simply about an election. It is about the future of Osun State and the kind of leadership we want to sustain.
“It is about continuity. It is about progress. It is about development. It is about the people. And, above all, it is about moving Osun forward,” he said.
The senator also reaffirmed the PDP’s willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government in advancing national development, regardless of political affiliations.
“As we advance this journey, I also reaffirm our commitment as members of the Peoples Democratic Party to working hand in hand with the Federal Government and with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the collective effort to build a stronger, more prosperous and united Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, national development should take precedence over partisan interests whenever opportunities arise to improve the lives of citizens.
“Political differences must never become barriers to the development of our country. Where there are opportunities to advance the interests of our people and strengthen Nigeria, we must be prepared to work together in the national interest,” Fadeyi stated.
He reiterated his commitment to promoting policies and programmes that would enhance governance, economic growth and social development.
“Our commitment is therefore clear: to continue advocating for good governance, economic opportunities, social development and a better future for our people,” he said.
The lawmaker also urged residents of Osun State to remain peaceful and united as the state prepares for the next stage of its political and developmental journey.
“I call on the people of Osun Central and indeed all Osun citizens to remain united, peaceful and focused as we move towards the next phase of our state’s development,” he said.
Concluding his message, Fadeyi expressed confidence in the collective ability of the people to secure a brighter future for Osun and Nigeria.
“Together, we shall win. Together, we shall build. Together, we shall create greater opportunities for our people. Together, we shall move Osun and Nigeria forward.”
