A support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, under the aegis of “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria,” has inaugurated its coordinators and members across the seven states of the North-West geopolitical zone, with a charge to mobilise grassroots support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration, which was held in Kaduna, brought together representatives and supporters from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, who was represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Politics, Abubakar Muhammad Mamadi, said
the North-West had witnessed significant interventions under the Tinubu administration, particularly in agriculture, youth empowerment, women’s development and education.
He said the region, whose economy is largely driven by agriculture, had benefited from the Federal Government’s agricultural interventions.
“No region has benefited under Tinubu’s administration like the North, particularly the seven states in the North-West region,” Mamadi said.
According to him, the administration had also introduced various financial support programmes targeted at women, youths and traders, while funds had been made available to enable students from disadvantaged backgrounds to continue their education.
He argued that the interventions had helped to address some of the socio-economic conditions that contributed to insecurity and other social problems in the region.
Mamadi therefore urged members of the support group to take the message of Tinubu’s administration’s achievements to communities across the North-West and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of 2027.
Earlier, the Convener of the “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria” Support Group, Engineer Mike Auta, formally inaugurated members of the organisation in the seven North-West states.
Auta charged the newly inaugurated members to embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation, stressing that their responsibility was to reach communities across the region and persuade voters to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He urged members to move beyond major cities and ensure that the group’s activities extended to rural communities and hard-to-reach areas.
“Go to all nooks and crannies of the states and mobilise the people. We must ensure victory for President Tinubu come 2027,” he told the members.
Also speaking, the women leader of the support group, Karima Abdullai, said millions of women had benefited from cash assistance and empowerment programmes introduced by the Tinubu administration.
Abdullai listed tailoring, bakery and soap-making among the vocational areas in which women had received support and empowerment items.
“Millions of women have been supported by President Tinubu with cash and empowerment items for different vocations such as tailoring, bakery and soap-making so that they will be self-reliant,” she said.
She called on women beneficiaries and others across the region to support the President’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that his administration would do more for women if given another mandate.
“I am calling on them to come out en masse to support Tinubu in 2027. I believe Tinubu will do more for them in 2027,” Abdullai said.
She added that she had been receiving positive feedback from women across the North-West, claiming that many had expressed their willingness to support Tinubu and the governors in the zone in the 2027 elections.
In her remarks, the Director of Town Hall Engagement and Special Duties of the group, Farida Ahmed Bala, said the gathering was aimed at bringing government closer to the people and creating an avenue for citizens to discuss their concerns and aspirations.
Bala welcomed participants from the seven North-West states and described Kaduna as the “heartbeat of the North-West.”
“Today, we have come together not just to hold a meeting. We have come together to talk about our lives, our communities, our children, our future and the future of Nigeria,” she said.
She said the town hall meeting was designed to ensure that the voices of ordinary Nigerians were heard.
“This town hall is about bringing government close to the people. It’s about listening to the farmer in the village, listening to the woman in the market, listening to the young man searching for opportunities, listening to the student who dreams of a better tomorrow, listening to the artisan struggling to grow his business, and listening to every ordinary Nigerian who desires a better life,” Bala said.
She urged Nigerians to recognise that nation-building was a collective responsibility, stressing that government alone could not solve the country’s challenges.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. The progress of Nigeria cannot be left to the government alone. Every community has a role to play. Every youth has a role to play. Every woman has a role to play,” she said.
Bala also appealed for patience with the Tinubu administration, describing the current period as one of rebuilding and restructuring.
“Let us be honest with ourselves, rebuilding a nation is not easy,” she said, likening the process to renovating a neglected house.
“When a house has been neglected for many years, repairing it may cause some discomfort before the house becomes beautiful again. But we must ask ourselves: do we abandon the house because renovation is difficult, or do we remain patient and allow the work to be completed?”
The organisers said the inauguration marked the beginning of a broader grassroots mobilisation campaign across the North-West, aimed at strengthening support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
