“There Is No Your Money or My Money in Marriage” – Man Reveals Why He Won’t Refund His Wife

  • A Nigerian businessman has said he would not refund his future wife for money she spends on their children, arguing that married couples should view their income as shared family resources.
  • His comments have triggered mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians supporting the idea of shared financial responsibility while others questioned how couples should handle individual earnings and expenses.

A Nigerian businessman has sparked debate online after explaining why he would not refund his future wife for money she spends on their children, insisting that married couples should treat their income as family money rather than keeping separate financial records.

In a post shared on X, the businessman addressed his future wife, saying their finances would become a shared responsibility once they got married.

“Dear future wife,

Let me make this clear before we meet.

When we get married, there is no “your money” and “my money.” There is our money.

If you earn ₦300K and I earn ₦500K, we have ₦800K as a family. Not ₦500K plus “your own” is your own.”

He also rejected the idea of his wife asking for reimbursement whenever she spends money on their children.

“And if you spend ₦100K on our children while I’m away, please don’t come with an invoice asking me to refund you.

They are our children, not a business investment where we keep receipts and calculate who spent more.”

The post has generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing that spouses should jointly provide for their families, while others argued that financial contributions should be discussed and balanced between partners.

Even if your not away, a wife who is earning ought to support the husband and also spend on the children. But if she knows your cheating, she will allow you spend on everything even salt.

This is 50/50 relationship then, if the woman carry the baby in her womb for 9 months, you as a man should take care of the baby for 9 months too, in this marriage, there is no head, it is equality, you go out, I go out freely, many things attached to this
