“They Promised 30% ROI” – Brain Jotter Reveals How He Allegedly Lost ₦60m in Real Estate Investment

  • Brain Jotter says he invested more than $100,000 in a real estate scheme in 2021, expecting a 30 per cent return and property as collateral.
  • He claims that years later, neither the promised returns nor the property had been delivered.
  • He said the company later offered to refund his investment but allegedly proposed a 15 per cent deduction and an instalment payment plan, leaving him frustrated over the reduced value of his money.

Nigerian skitmaker Brain Jotter has recounted how he allegedly invested more than $100,000, which was worth over ₦60 million at the time, in a real estate investment scheme in 2021, only to struggle to recover his money years later.

According to Brain Jotter, he started earning more from YouTube after previously surviving on between ₦25,000 and ₦40,000 monthly. As his income improved, he decided to invest his savings and eventually put the money into an offer by Property Matchmakers connected to Beechwood Estate.

He said the investment promised a 30 per cent return after 12 months, with land provided as collateral. Although he received a deed of assignment, he admitted that he did not involve a lawyer because he trusted the company.

Brain Jotter said the investment represented almost all his savings at the time. He had accumulated more than $100,000, converted it to naira and invested about ₦60-something million.

He explained that he did not immediately demand his returns because he was still working and earning money. By 2023 and 2024, however, he became interested in developing the land that had been given to him as collateral.

According to him, the company repeatedly asked him to wait, citing issues surrounding survey approval and the coastal road project.

By 2025, Brain Jotter said he became suspicious and demanded either the property or a refund of his investment.

He alleged that the company agreed to refund his money but proposed deducting 15 per cent as a penalty, despite the initial agreement promising a 30 per cent return on investment.

The skitmaker also lamented the loss in value of his money, noting that ₦60 million to ₦70 million could have purchased a decent house in 2021 but no longer carries the same value today.

Brain Jotter said he eventually accepted the refund arrangement because he did not feel capable of pursuing a lengthy legal battle. However, he claimed the company subsequently sent him a payment plan to repay the money in instalments while still applying the 15 per cent deduction.

He expressed frustration that the company was allegedly still developing and selling properties in Lekki Phase One while he continued to struggle to recover his investment.

His experience has sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising his decision not to involve a lawyer before committing such a large amount of money.
