Three Killed in Plateau Clash as Troops Move In

Three people were k!lled following a cl@sh between suspected Fulani and Mwaghavul youths in Jwak Maitumbi community, Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, following an earlier dispute between youths from the two communities, with sustained gunfire reported at the location.
Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, were deployed after receiving violence reports and moved to contain the situation.
The troops deployed firepower, forcing both sides to withdraw from the area.
Clearance operations were subsequently conducted around the community, with drone surveillance used to monitor the area and confirm the combatants had departed.
The fatalities comprised one community member and two Fulani herders.
Another community member was also injured. Security forces continued operations in the area to maintain calm.
