Transfer: Alonso identifies midfielder to sign as Enzo Fernandez’s replacement at Chelsea
Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso, has identified the midfielder to sign as Enzo Fernandez’s replacement should the Argentina international decide to leave Stamford Bridge before the summer transfer window closes next week.
Fernandez is edging closer to joining Manchester City from Chelsea.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca is keen to bring Fernandez to the Etihad, having coached him at Chelsea.
Speculations regarding Fernandez’s future at Chelsea intensified on Thursday night after the 25-year-old was left out of the squad that defeated Luton Town in the Carabao Cup.
According to Foot Mercato, Alonso is stepping up efforts to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco, after Chelsea joined Liverpool and Crystal Palace in the race to sign the Senegal international.
The report added that Alonso has made enquiries about the 22-year-old midfielder and that the player is open to moving to Chelsea.
