Chaotic Scenes at Kwabenya Circuit Court As Cocaine Suspects’ Relatives Shield Them From Cameras

Dramatic scenes has unfolded outside the Kwabenya Circuit Court as relatives and sympathisers of the six suspects linked to the 3.9-tonne cocaine seizure scrambled to shield them from media cameras following the adjournment of their case.

Footage from the scene shows a tense crush of bodies at the courthouse entrance, with police officers and court officials looking on as family members pressed in close, using pieces of clothing, including a bright orange cloth held aloft, to block the suspects from view as they attempted to leave the premises.

Phones were raised on all sides as reporters and onlookers jostled for a clear shot, only to be met with deliberate efforts to obstruct the cameras at every turn.

The commotion reflects the intense public interest surrounding the case, which involves a shipment valued at an estimated $261 million allegedly smuggled out through Tema Port disguised as plastic waste.
