Veterinary Doctors Hail Gov Lawal For Implementing Consolidated Pay Structure

The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Zamfara State Chapter, has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for approving and implementing the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for its members.

In a statement issued by NVMA state chairman, Dr Mukhtar Salihu Anka, described the implementation of the new salary structure as a major milestone for the veterinary profession in Zamfara.

He said it was a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, professional recognition and the development of the livestock and animal health sector.

Anka noted that veterinary doctors play a critical role in safeguarding animal health, improving livestock productivity, protecting public health, controlling zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety and contributing to the economic development of the state.

The association particularly appreciated Governor Lawal for recognising the importance of veterinary services and taking concrete steps to address longstanding concerns over appropriate remuneration and professional welfare of veterinary doctors in the state.

Anka expressed optimism that the implementation of the new salary structure would boost the morale of veterinary doctors, enhance productivity and encourage them to continue providing quality services to livestock farmers and residents of the state.

Dr. Anka reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the state government’s efforts to improve animal health, promote livestock development, safeguard public health and advance the socio-economic development of the state.

He described the governor’s decision as a landmark intervention and prayed for continued wisdom, success and progress for the governor and his administration.
