WAEC Announces 2026 WASSCE Result, Withholds 167,486 Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, with 61.54 per cent of candidates obtaining at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
The examination body announced the release on Wednesday through its official X account, directing candidates to generate their result-checking PIN on the WAEC portal before accessing their results on the result-checking website.
According to the Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, a total of 1,959,668 candidates from 24,207 schools registered for the examination, while 1,950,726 candidates eventually sat for the papers conducted between April and June across Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.
Out of those who wrote the examination, 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. WAEC also disclosed that 167,486 results, representing 8.59 per cent of candidates, were withheld over alleged examination malpractice pending the conclusion of investigations.
The council stated that candidates cleared of wrongdoing after the investigation would have their results released, while those found guilty would face the appropriate sanctions.
