Wike hints at ‘largest rainbow coalition’ to back Tinubu in 2027
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hinted at plans to form what he described as the “largest rainbow coalition” in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Wike made the disclosure while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, following the visit of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to his residence on Thursday.
The FCT minister suggested that the political landscape ahead of the 2027 presidential election was already shifting in favour of Tinubu, claiming that Adeleke was now aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike further argued that opposition parties would struggle to prevent Tinubu from securing a second term in office.
According to him, the 2027 presidential election was already shaping up to be a “walkover” for the incumbent.
“In the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see the largest rainbow coalition supporting President Tinubu,” Wike said.
The minister did not provide details of the parties or political figures he expects to form the proposed coalition but indicated that more developments would emerge in the coming weeks.
Adeleke visits Wike after Osun victory
Wike’s comments came a day after Adeleke visited him in Abuja alongside his nephew, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

Wike: Adeleke won Osun election because Tinubu allowed free, fair poll
The meeting took place shortly after Adeleke received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke, who secured re-election after a closely contested poll, has also publicly declared his support for President Tinubu.
His reported alignment with Tinubu has generated political interest, particularly as opposition parties and political figures continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor previously contested and won the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while the APC remains the governing party at the federal level.
Wike himself remains a prominent figure in the political realignment ahead of 2027 and has maintained his support for President Tinubu despite his membership of the PDP.
His latest comments suggest that further political defections and alliances could emerge in the coming weeks as politicians begin to consolidate their positions ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The proposed “rainbow coalition”, if formed, could bring together politicians and political groups from different parties in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
