2027: Oba Of Benin Endorses Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid, Urges Nigerians To Support Continuity

• The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has backed President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, urging Nigerians to support continuity in governance.
• The monarch made the remarks when the APC Presidential Campaign Council visited his palace in Benin City to seek his blessings and support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The monarch made his position known on Tuesday, September 15, when the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, led a delegation to the Benin Palace in Edo State to seek royal blessings and support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Speaking during the visit, Oba Ewuare II called for continuity in governance and cautioned against seeking a change of government simply for the sake of change.

“The Benin throne is not partisan. There is no point for change for the sake of change. That is not to say that I belong to one party or the other.”

The monarch also said:

“If one is doing well, why not join hands with the president to do what he is doing well?”

He subsequently urged Nigerians to allow the president to complete his work, saying:

“Let President Tinubu finish the good work.”

The Oba also appealed to political leaders across party lines to cooperate on issues concerning the development of the country.
