A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC), Buba Galadima, has expressed uncertainty over the conduct of the 2027 presidential election, saying only God and President Bola Tinubu know what will happen.
Galadima stated this on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 election and the party’s presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Asked whether he expected the election to be free and fair, the NDC chieftain expressed concern over recent developments involving opposition politicians.
“If you are dealing with criminals and fraudsters like these ones we have, you can’t be sure of anything.
“Only God and Tinubu know what will happen to this election,” he said.
Galadima also alleged that opposition politicians and their supporters had been subjected to coordinated attacks, citing incidents in Enugu, the reported obstruction of Obi during his visit to Benue State and an incident involving an African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Kaduna.

Despite his concerns, Galadima expressed confidence in the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, saying the pair would win if the election was conducted freely, fairly and transparently.
“Obi and Kwankwaso will win this election if it is free, fair and transparent, unless somebody decides to use the machinery of government and take it away from them,” he said.
Galadima disclosed that he is the chairman of the coordinating strategic committee for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, adding that the committee was working to harmonise the political blueprints of both men.
According to him, the former Anambra and Kano governors have different political experiences and areas of strength that complement each other.
“Peter Obi may be more conversant with issues in Anambra, more than Kwankwaso. And Kwankwaso may be conversant with certain issues in Kano, more than Obi. So they complement each other in every move,” he said.
The NDC chieftain said the proposed administration would not be divided between supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso, describing the ticket as a “healing ticket” for the country.
“We are not going to run a divided government of one belonging to Kwankwaso, one belonging to Peter Obi. No, we are running a Nigerian government. That is why we called this ticket a healing ticket for Nigeria,” he said.
He identified national unity, public confidence in government and security as some of the priorities of the proposed administration.
Galadima added that the government would pursue security measures aimed at enabling Nigerians to carry out their daily activities without fear.
The NDC chieftain also criticised a reported gathering of academics who publicly declared support for President Tinubu, arguing that those involved should not subsequently be recruited to serve in the 2027 election.
He further said the opposition’s strategy for the election would not necessarily require all opposition parties to field a single candidate against Tinubu.
