ADC Youth Leader, Rufai Denies Resignation, Accuses APC Of Sponsoring ‘Infiltrators’

The National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress, Balarabe Rufai, has accused the All Progressives Congress of sponsoring individuals allegedly working to cause division within the opposition party.

Rufai, in a statement issued on Friday, described an individual he said had been circulating a resignation letter on social media while claiming to be the ADC National Youth Leader as a ” desperate political jobber “.

He maintained that he remained the recognised National Youth Leader of the ADC, arguing that his name continued to appear on the party’s published leadership list.

He also cited his recent appointment by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign to lead youth mobilisation.

According to Rufai, the alleged resignation and the activities of another individual who previously contested the National Youth Leader position were part of a coordinated attempt to create confusion within the ADC.

He alleged that the two individuals were sponsored by APC handlers through one Nafiu Bala, claiming that they had been working secretly to destabilise the ADC.

Rufai further alleged that recorded telephone conversations involving the individuals and alleged APC handlers had exposed what he described as a covert arrangement to undermine the opposition party from within.

He claimed that more audio recordings were available and could be released publicly, saying the recordings would enable Nigerians to hear the alleged conversations for themselves.

The ADC youth leader, however, said the alleged internal crisis would not distract the party from its political objectives ahead of the 2027 general election.

Rufai also cited a recent poll conducted by Barrister Abba Hikima’s #TinubuMustGo POLLS, which he said showed 73 per cent support for the ADC-led coalition.

He said the result demonstrated widespread dissatisfaction with the administration of President Bola Tinubu and expressed confidence that Nigerians would vote against the President in the next election.

Rufai said, “What we are witnessing is the classic drama of two hired tools: this noisy letter-writer and his co-conspirator who contested for that same office while claiming it at the same time.

“Both were sponsored from the shadows by APC handlers through Nafiu Bala to ignite fake fires in our party.

“These tapes establish beyond doubt that these individuals have allegedly been in constant, secret consultations with the ruling party while pretending to belong to our fold.

“Having failed in their dirty contract to tear us apart from within, they are scrambling to control the narrative before we release the remaining audio files to the public.

 “The Nigerian people will stand united at the ballot box, defend their votes, and firmly escort Tinubu out of the Villa,” Rufai said.
