APC loses governorship hopeful Haske to opposition APM

Businessman and politician Abdulrahman Haske has abandoned the All Progressives Congress(APC)on Saturday to take over the governorship candidate ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement in Adamawa State.
Haske publicly declared his defecting and picked up the standard-bearer ticket in Yola to give citizens an alternative choice for managing public resources and expanding economic opportunities.
The sudden party switch gives the opposition group a major candidate directly from the ruling party ranks to contest the 2027 state election.
Community leaders, traditional chiefs, women groups, and political loyalists from all 21 Local Government Areas of the state gathered to witness the declaration event.

Haske told the crowd that his departure from his old political home was necessary to build a transparent system that puts citizens first.
“Today is not merely about joining a political party; it is about strengthening a movement dedicated to the future of Adamawa State,” Haske said.
He explained that his decision was guided by personal principles and a desire to serve the immediate needs of everyday citizens.
He promised to focus his upcoming state campaign on farming, building roads, improving schools, providing medical services, creating jobs, and restoring safety.
Party leaders back candidate
National Chairman of the political group, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, welcomed Haske and explained why the national executive committee backed his nomination.
Dantalle stated that top party officials held wide discussions before choosing Haske to lead their political contest in the state.
“After extensive consultations, we are convinced that Abdulrahman Haske embodies the values and principles for which the Allied Peoples Movement stands,” Dantalle said.
He noted that Haske possesses the personal credibility, energy, and leadership capacity needed to run for governor.
State Chairman of the organisation, Badejo Bello, described the new candidate as a unifier who understands local issues facing ordinary households across the 21 local councils.
Bello told members that the party structure will stand firmly behind Haske to offer residents renewed hope for economic growth.
Focus on 2027 election
Haske accepted the official nomination flag from party leaders and promised to work hard with all party members to win the state election.
“I am deeply grateful to the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement for their belief in our shared vision and for entrusting me with the responsibility of carrying the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election,” Haske stated.
He added that he accepts the challenge with full determination to earn the trust of voters through direct honesty and continuous service.
The event ended with unified pledges from local party delegates, youth leaders, and organizers to start active work across all 21 local government areas for the upcoming 2027 polls.
