Australia eVisitor Visa: 4 Key Benefits Foreigners Enjoy with a Free Travel Permit

The Department of Home Affairs has released the complete list of advantages and restrictions associated with the free Australia eVisitor visa, a travel permit that allows qualified visitors to enter the nation repeatedly throughout 12 months.

The eVisitor visa, which falls under subclass 651, is open to citizens of qualifying nations and has no application fee.

After being approved, holders are free to visit Australia as often as they like within the 12-month validity period, staying for up to three months each time.

Key benefits of Australia’s free eVisitor visa

Many different types of travel are covered by the visa:

  1. Holders may go on cruises or for leisure.
  2. Candidates may also come to see friends and family.
  3. Business travelers are also accommodated, as the visa allows them to do things like go to conferences, trade shows, or seminars, look into or sign business contracts, and visit official government buildings.
  4. Although Australia’s immigration office advises candidates whose main goal is education to think about a dedicated student visa instead, short-term study or training up to three months in total is also allowed.

The Visitor (subclass 600) visa is specifically intended for applicants who plan to train in childcare settings or pursue careers in sectors like medical, dentistry, nursing, or paramedicine. Prior to applying, applicants must undergo pertinent health examinations.

What is prohibited by the Australia eVisitor visa?

The eVisitor visa has strict limitations despite its flexibility. The visa is not for employment.

Holders are prohibited from selling items to the general public, performing paid employment for any Australian employer, and offering services to a company or organization.

Australia’s immigration authorities caution that if a holder works or plans to work while in the country, their visa may be revoked.

Those who violate this requirement may also be removed from Australia or denied admission.

Certain programs may allow volunteer labor, but regular employment is absolutely prohibited.

The eVisitor visa itself does not allow for stays longer than three months. Holders must apply for a different visa appropriate to their situation if they want to stay in Australia for an extended period of time.

In a similar vein, once a visa is granted, it cannot be extended; a fresh application for a different visa type would be necessary.

According to Australia’s immigration office, visitors who travel frequently or for extended periods of time may be asked why they are there when they re-enter.

If someone is shown to not be a legitimate visitor, their eVisitor visa could be revoked.

VEVO, Australia’s online visa entitlement verification system, allows holders to view their individual visa conditions and allowed stay dates.
