Bad Bunny has won his first Primetime Emmy, taking home Outstanding Variety Special (Live) at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 5.
The Puerto Rican superstar won for The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, earning the award as both its lead performer and a producer.
The win makes the production only the second Super Bowl halftime show to claim the top programme Emmy, following The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, which featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent and won the award four years ago.
Jay-Z, Desiree Perez and Jesse Collins, who were executive producers on both shows, also shared in the achievement, while Dave Meyers served as co-executive producer on both productions.
Bad Bunny’s halftime show dominated the night with seven wins, making it the most-awarded Super Bowl halftime show in Emmy history. It also became the first Spanish-language programme to win Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
The production additionally won for music direction, directing, sound mixing, choreography, lighting design, and technical direction and camerawork.
