Soye Karibi-George’s Miss World Wardrobe Highlights Nigerian Heritage

When Tamunosoye Soye Karibi-George stepped onto the global stage at the Miss World 2026 grand finale in Vietnam, she carried more than just the hopes of a nation; she carried its heritage. Finishing in the Top 12 and winning the Africa Top Model title, the 26-year-old public relations professional proved that modern pageantry wardrobe is no longer just about aesthetics, but a masterclass in identity, strategic narrative control, and cultural diplomacy.
While earlier media coverage focused heavily on her pre-finale preparations, the execution of her wardrobe on the global stage warrants closer scrutiny. Karibi-George used fabric, silhouette, and colour as extensions of her story across three main ensembles.
1. The Golden ‘Africa Top Model’ Masterpiece
During the Top Model fast-track event, Karibi-George wore a form-fitting golden gown embellished with intricate beadwork and dramatic structural accents. The outfit seamlessly blended high-fashion runway edge with African royalty motifs, securing her the title of Africa’s Top Model and an automatic spot in the global Top 40.

2. The “Amazon of the Mangrove” Cultural Attire
For the cultural segments, Karibi-George presented the “Amazon of the Mangrove” costume, conceptualized by Nigerian design house Zhalima Grazioni to honour her roots in Buguma, Rivers State. The gown featured a column silhouette encrusted in local river shells, accompanied by structured crimson mangrove roots, green foliage, rich coral beadwork, and a fringed ceremonial headdress. The piece elevated Niger Delta material culture and coastal geography to the global stage while highlighting environmental awareness.

3. The Grand Finale Gown: “Tonight, I Wear Home”
At the grand finale in Nha Trang, where she advanced into the Top 12, Karibi-George unveiled a custom gown designed in green and white. Describing the look on her social media platforms with the statement, “Tonight, I wear home,” the patriotic design allowed Nigeria’s national colours to serve as a central visual statement during the main broadcast.
