Operators of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Rivers State, have decried the low patronage they are experiencing from commercial and private drivers in the state.
This is as they also decried the failure of the federal government to fully implement the government’s CNG programme
Speaking with LEADERSHIP, manager of CNG centre in Rumuokwuta, in Port Harcourt, Olive Okorefe, attributed low patronage to the limited number of filling stations and poor uptake of last year’s free conversion programme.
However, the general manager of a CNG centre in Akpajo, Prince Amaze, told our correspondent that high conversion costs remain a major barrier for many motorists.
Amaze added that proper implementation will encourage wider adoption of CNG as a cheaper alternative.
