Borno: Troops intercept vehicle with 11 empty CNG cylinders, open-loop kit
Troops of the 233 Tank Battalion have intercepted a vehicle carrying 11 empty Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, cylinders and a Greco open-loop kit without the required security clearance in Borno State.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the vehicle was intercepted at about 1:00 pm on September 6, 2026, during a routine stop-and-search operation at the Mega Checkpoint.
The troops arrested the driver and recovered the 11 CNG cylinders and one Greco open-loop kit from the vehicle.
“The items were reportedly being transported without security clearance, prompting the troops to detain the driver for further investigation,” the report stated.
The driver and the recovered items remain in military custody as the investigation continues.
