The Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency has restated its ban on pasting and displaying posters anywhere in the state.
The agency warned that violators face fines up to 50 million naira.
The ban applies to all posters including those with names, photos, logos and messages from political parties, candidates and aspirants.
The warning comes before the Enugu State local government elections on September 26, 2026 and the 2027 general elections when political campaigns will intensify.
The ban is backed by the Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law from 2016, which controls outdoor advertising and poster display.
No one, whether individuals, political parties, candidates or supporters, is allowed to paste or display posters on buildings, walls, fences, bridges, electricity poles, roads, public facilities or any public or private surface in the state.
The agency said the restriction is necessary to prevent defacement of public and private property and keep the environment and appearance of cities, towns and communities clean.
Printers and printing businesses are also warned against producing posters meant for unauthorized display.
Any printer found producing such posters may face investigation and sanctions.
Anyone caught violating the ban will face financial penalties and other punishments under the law.
The agency advised political parties, candidates and campaign organisations to use radio, television, print media, digital platforms and approved billboards for their campaigns instead.
The agency said the ban applies equally to everyone regardless of political affiliation or status.
The ban remains in force and everyone should comply.
