“Fact-Check Influencers Like You Fact-Check Pastors” – Femi Lazarus Claims Some Have Been Paid In Dollars Ahead Of 2027

Pastor Femi Lazarus has urged Nigerians to fact-check social media influencers with the same level of scrutiny they apply to pastors.
The cleric said doing so could help address a significant portion of the country’s problems, particularly as politicians prepare for the 2027 general election.
He said, “If Nigerians can begin to fact-check their influencers the way they fact-check pastors, we will solve 50% of our problems.”
Lazarus also alleged that political actors have begun financially supporting influencers ahead of the election, warning Nigerians to be cautious about the information they receive online.
He added, “The 2027 election is around the corner, and they have paid a lot of influencers in dollars. Some will either go mute or begin to give you impressions…”
His comments have sparked reactions online, with some social media users questioning whether pastors should also be challenged to speak up on issues within the Christian community.
