Kebbi state chairperson of female farmers association,Hadiza Muhammed Kola has said that so far over five thousand female farmers across the twenty local governments in Kebbi state have enrolled with the association in the state.
Kola disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with our correspondent in Birnin Kebbi.
According to her, those who registered with the association are large scale farmers while large portion of them are home gardeners driven by the initiative of Nigeria’s first lady Senator Remi Tinubu.
She noted that female farming is largely contributing to national food security even as their contribution has boosted national food bank in Nigeria particularly the northern bloc where arable lands are found.
Kola explained that the motive behind the promulgation of the association was to ascertain the number of female farmers and to bring them in the eyes of the world for them to access finances to prosecute their farming

” Female farmers are contributing to national food security and as well encouraging local content,so we are calling on women sitting at home to at least embrace home gardening”.
She stressed that a successful female farmer can feed her family and her neighbours and even have some money for other social needs saying the venture has created economic value chain.
The chairman person added that female farming has created hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs to women and had largely reduced anti social behavior such as prostitution and drugs addiction among female folk.
