Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni has sworn in two commissioners, one permanent secretary and 17 newly elected local government chairmen in Damaturu on Thursday.
He told them to put public interest ahead of personal interests and to justify the trust placed in them.
He said the new officials must support his administration’s reform agenda, which he credits with improving service delivery across the state.
He also pointed to health milestones this year.
Yobe State University Teaching Hospital carried out a total hip replacement, and Damaturu Specialist Hospital performed a major maxillofacial surgery.
He said the West African College of Physicians accredited the community medicine department at the teaching hospital for postgraduate training, and the West African College of Surgeons certified Damaturu Specialist Hospital for training in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Buni reminded the local government chairmen that they won under the APC and urged them to help the party win the coming general elections.
Among those sworn in were Dr Abubakar Kagu as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dauda Alhaji Idi as Commissioner for Livestock Development, and Fatima Makintami as Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice.
