The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects who allegedly burgled a phone shop in Osogbo and carted away valuables worth millions of naira.
The suspects are: Afeez Arole (30), Salami Wahab Idowu (49), Akanmu Afeez (37) and Adebisi Taofeek (47).
Giving a brief of the matter, the command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that a complainant reported that his shop at Oja-Oba, Osogbo, was burgled by suspected hoodlums on September 1st, where different types of mobile phones valued at approximately Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) were stolen.
Ojelabi noted that “On 22nd September 2026, at about 1830hrs, credible information was received that some suspected hoodlums were sighted within the Oja-Oba area of Osogbo and following intelligence-led surveillance and investigation, Police operatives raided the suspected hideout of the alleged perpetrators, leading to the arrest of four suspects mentioned above.”
Items recovered from the suspects include two Itel mobile phones, which were subsequently identified by the complainant as part of the mobile phones allegedly stolen from his shop.
The police spokesperson said the suspects have made statements in connection with the alleged offence, adding that investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and their level of involvement.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Ibrahim Zungura, has directed the investigating team to intensify efforts towards uncovering other members of the suspected criminal network and recovery of other stolen items.
The Command assures residents of Osun State that it remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to deploy intelligence-led policing strategies to prevent and detect criminal activities across the State.
Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police through the appropriate channels.
