Erling Haaland continues to rewrite Manchester City’s record books, climbing to third on the club’s all-time goalscoring list and edging just one goal ahead of long-standing club legend Tommy Johnson.
The Norwegian striker has now netted 167 goals for City, moving him above Johnson’s tally of 166 and cementing his place among the club’s most prolific marksmen in history.
Only two players now stand above him: Sergio Agüero, the club’s record scorer with 260 goals, and Eric Brook, who sits second with 177.
Haaland’s rapid rise up the list underscores the remarkable scoring rate he has sustained since arriving at the Etihad.

Johnson’s tally of 166 goals had stood for decades as one of the benchmarks of City’s storied history, but the Norwegian has surged past it in a fraction of the time it took his predecessor to compile his numbers across a different era of the game.
Behind Johnson in the all-time standings sits another City great, Colin Bell, who scored 153 times for the club, followed by Billy Meredith and Joe Hayes, who are locked together on 152 goals apiece. Francis Lee rounds out the top eight with 148, while Tommy Browell, Billy Gillespie, and Fred Tilson occupy the next tier, with Gillespie and Tilson tied on 132 goals each.
Further down the list, Raheem Sterling remains City’s most prolific scorer of the modern Premier League era outside of Haaland and Agüero, having struck 131 times for the club before his departure.
With Brook’s 177 goals now the next target in his sights, Haaland’s trajectory suggests he could soon threaten second place on the all-time list, leaving only Agüero’s benchmark of 260 as the ultimate milestone still standing between him and the top of Manchester City’s storied goalscoring history.
