Minister of Works Dave Umahi has expressed his frustration with Peter Obi’s repeated use of the phrase “go and verify” whenever he makes claims or presents information.
Umahi said he dislikes hearing the statement from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate.
“I h@te hearing this statement he always makes, ‘Go and verify,’” Umahi said.
His comment has sparked reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many users turning Obi’s familiar phrase back on the Works Minister.
Obi has repeatedly challenged Nigerians to independently scrutinise his claims and records. Earlier this month, he told Nigerians to investigate his background and publicly identify any wrongdoing they believed he had committed.
The phrase has also featured prominently in the ongoing public debate surrounding claims about Obi’s record as Anambra governor, with Obi and his supporters continuing to release documents and urge Nigerians to verify the information themselves.
