“I Never Knew I Was A Survivor Until I Started SHS And Saw My Colleagues Having A Different Cl!t Than Mine” — Lady Opens Up About Her Female Genital Mutilation Journey

A Ghanaian woman has bravely shared her personal experience with female genital mutilation (FGM), revealing that the procedure was carried out on her when she was just a week old, alongside tribal markings placed on her face and stomach on the same day.

Speaking during an interview with Serwaa Amihere on TV3, she recounted how she grew up entirely unaware of what had been done to her body as an infant.

It was not until she reached secondary school, in conversations and everyday interactions with schoolmates from different regions, that she began to notice physical differences between herself and girls from other parts of the country, an observation that eventually led her to understand she had undergone the practice without her knowledge or consent.

She went on to say that she went him with annoyance to question her parents and to her suprise, she was told Female Gentile Mutilation is part of their culture and especially for a child from a royal family, she had to undergo it.
