“I No Dey Give Shishi” – ‘Charismatic’ Bishop Recalls Peter Obi’s 2023 Campaign, Speaks On Supporting Tinubu

Bishop Leonard Kawas of the Charismatic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria has compared the group’s support for Peter Obi in 2023 with its recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking about their political choices, Kawas recalled that Obi had made it clear during the 2023 election that he would not give supporters money, yet they still backed him.

“When we supported Peter Obi [in 2023]. He made it clear that he was not going to give anybody money—he said, ‘I no dey give shishi.’ Yet that did not stop us from supporting him. Today, this endorsement [of President Tinubu] has not given us even one naira!”

The bishop’s remarks have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning his emphasis on money while others criticised the decision to endorse Tinubu.
