“It’s All A Lie” – Makinde Replies Wike, Denies Tinubu Gave Oyo ₦50bn To Upgrade Ibadan Airport To International Airport

• Oyo State Governor and APM presidential candidate Seyi Makinde has denied FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s claim that President Bola Tinubu gave Oyo State ₦50 billion to upgrade the Ibadan Airport.
• Makinde said neither he nor the state government received the money, insisting that the ongoing airport upgrade is being funded entirely by the Oyo State Government.

Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, has denied FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s claim that President Bola Tinubu gave Oyo State ₦50 billion to upgrade the Ibadan Airport.

Makinde made the clarification on Tuesday while addressing supporters and stakeholders at an APM town hall meeting in Katsina.

According to him, his attention was drawn to Wike’s comments during a TVC interview on Monday, where the FCT minister reportedly said the Tinubu administration provided ₦50 billion for the airport project.

Makinde rejected the claim, saying neither he nor Oyo State received the alleged funds.

“My attention was called to Wike’s interview yesterday, where he said President Tinubu gave ₦50 billion to Oyo State to upgrade the airport to an international airport. It’s all a l!e. I did not receive any money for the airport upgrade. The upgrade of the airport is being undertaken 100% from the Oyo State Government’s pocket,” Makinde said.

The dispute comes amid increasing political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general election. Wike had cited the alleged ₦50 billion support while discussing the relationship between the Tinubu administration and members of the former PDP G5 governors.
