YouTube star Jack Doherty is facing another legal battle after police arrested him on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 22-year-old influencer was taken into custody shortly before noon on Friday, September 4, after officers responded to a reported domestic dispute inside a residence. Police said a woman was involved in a physical confrontation with Doherty but was not injured. A source close to the controversial creator has since claimed that he was acting in self-defense.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of Southwest 5th Court at approximately 11:56 a.m. “Upon arrival, officers identified the male involved as Jack Doherty,” the department said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “Preliminary information revealed he and a female victim got into a physical dispute inside a residence. The female victim was not injured during the incident.”
Doherty was arrested and booked into the Broward County Main Jail on one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. A mugshot released following the arrest appeared to show a cut on his cheek. However, authorities have not said when or how the apparent injury occurred.

Doherty initially remained in custody without a listed bond, but that changed when he appeared in court Saturday morning. A magistrate found probable cause and set his bond at $1,000, according to CBS News Miami. The court also ordered Doherty to have no contact with the alleged victim. He has retained a private attorney.
Police have not publicly identified the woman involved or provided a detailed account of what allegedly happened before the confrontation became physical. TMZ reported that a source close to Doherty claimed the influencer was defending himself during the incident. That account has not been confirmed by authorities.
Jack Doherty Was Previously Filmed Arguing With His Girlfriend
The arrest comes months after Ring camera footage appeared to capture Doherty having a heated argument with his girlfriend, Katalina Cartmel. In the video, which surfaced in June, a water bottle appeared to strike Doherty in the face while the couple argued outside a residence.
The circumstances leading up to that confrontation remained unclear, but the footage quickly attracted attention on social media. There is no confirmed connection between the June footage and Friday’s incident.
Influencer Faced Drug Charges In 2025
Friday’s arrest marks another run-in with law enforcement for Doherty, who was previously taken into custody in Miami Beach in November 2025. Police accused him of obstructing traffic while filming content in the middle of a roadway and refusing repeated orders to move. A search conducted during the arrest allegedly uncovered part of an orange pill believed to be a Schedule II amphetamine and suspected marijuana cigarettes.
Doherty faced charges that included possession of a controlled substance and resisting an officer without violence. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center before posting a $3,500 bond.
According to court-record information reported by FOX 35 Orlando, Doherty was formally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor resisting arrest in January 2026. He was later accepted into a drug pretrial diversion program, while the marijuana possession charge was dropped.
Viral McLaren Crash Led To Kick Ban
Doherty built his enormous online following by posting pranks, stunts and provocative encounters, but his content has repeatedly generated controversy. In October 2024, the YouTuber crashed his custom McLaren 570S while livestreaming on Kick during heavy rain.
Video showed Doherty driving with one hand and looking down at his phone before losing control of the sports car. The vehicle skidded across the wet highway and struck a metal barrier, severely damaging its front end. Doherty escaped without serious injury, but his passenger, Michael David, was left bleeding from his face and required hospital treatment.
Immediately after the crash, Doherty handed David a camera and said, “Michael, here. Film on that phone too.”
Kick later banned Doherty for violating its safety guidelines.
