“Jude Received Nothing”- Peter Okoye Admits Receiving $800,000 Royalties In Court

- Peter Okoye, a Nigerian singer, disclosed receiving over $800,000 in royalties from SACEM for P-Square’s music.
- He made this statement during a virtual testimony in a court case involving his brother, Jude Okoye.
- The testimony took place before Justice Alexander Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Award-winning Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has revealed that he received more than $800,000 in royalties from SACEM for P-Square’s musical works.
Peter made the disclosure while testifying virtually before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos during a court hearing involving his elder brother, Jude Okoye.
During cross-examination by Jude’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor, SAN, Peter confirmed that he received the royalties but maintained that Jude was not entitled to any portion of the money.
According to the singer, the payments were meant for him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, because they were the artists behind P-Square. He explained that he did not inform Jude about the payments because Jude was not a member of the group.
Peter, however, acknowledged that Jude had directed some of P-Square’s music videos. He maintained that he and Paul were responsible for composing, writing and producing the group’s songs.
The singer also confirmed receiving a royalty report covering payments made between 2016 and 2022. He explained that the report was obtained because some individuals had shown interest in purchasing the P-Square music catalogue.
The court subsequently adjourned the hearing until December 8 and 9, 2026.
The latest development comes amid the long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers.
In March last year, Jude Okoye was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi over an alleged N1.38 billion fraud case brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was later released from detention in April. His younger brother, Paul Okoye, announced his release on Instagram and appeared to take a swipe at his twin brother, Peter, over the circumstances surrounding Jude’s bail.
Jude later addressed some of the allegations against him during an Instagram Live session. He questioned why people continued to expect him to resolve the differences between Peter and Paul, particularly when he felt Peter did not respect him.
Jude also stated that he had not been involved with P-Square for about eight years and questioned why Peter continued to involve him in matters concerning the group.
Meanwhile, Peter had previously launched a tell-all series on social media, giving his account of the issues that led to the fallout between him, Paul and Jude.
In the second part of the series, Peter claimed that Jude wanted a 30 percent share and questioned why their elder brother should continue managing them.
In another episode, Peter alleged that he discovered he was no longer a signatory to Northside Entertainment’s bank account while attempting to obtain the company’s statement of account. He questioned why his brothers would allegedly steal from him if money was not important to them, describing the situation as a betrayal.
Jude denied the claims and accused Peter of attempting to bait him and influence public opinion through social media while the matter was still before the court. He maintained that he would not discuss issues connected to the ongoing legal proceedings, except where necessary to correct what he described as false narratives.
Peter later released another episode of his tell-all series, in which he alleged that Jude had threatened to shoot him during a disagreement over the ownership of a property in the United States. According to Peter, the disagreement arose after he questioned plans to sell the property.
Jude responded by questioning Peter’s decision to share the video publicly and said he had handed the matter over to God. He also stated that Peter would remain in his prayers.
In the final part of the series, Peter made another allegation, claiming that his brothers took $3.2 million from their Forex account in 2013.
He said the alleged financial loss was not the most painful part of the situation, but rather the feeling of betrayal because of the people involved.
