Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has rejected his inclusion in the presidential campaign council of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Moghalu said he was neither consulted nor asked to consent to his inclusion in the campaign policy team of Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Friday, the former CBN deputy governor said he was surprised to find his name listed among members of Atiku’s campaign team.
Atiku had earlier announced the composition of his presidential campaign council, appointing Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman and Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, as deputy chairman.
Moghalu was listed as a member of the campaign’s policy team headed by Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who contested the ADC presidential primary alongside Atiku.
According to Atiku, members of the policy team are expected to develop practical solutions to the challenges presented by Nigerians to the campaign.
But Moghalu said the ADC did not seek his consent before including his name on the list.
“I am surprised to see a statement from @atiku and @ADCNig campaign team including my name as a member of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s policy team for the 2027 presidential campaign,” he wrote.
“For the record, I was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team.
“I am NOT, in fact, a member of Atiku’s policy team, even unofficially or in any advisory capacity.”
Moghalu also said he had withdrawn from partisan politics in Nigeria since 2022 and had maintained a non-partisan position on national affairs.
“I am not a member or sympathizer of any political party in Nigeria,” he said.
