Lawyer For Salomey Awiti Bafoh Speaks On Her Alleged Links To The Anonymous TikTok Account “Ghana Jollof”

Lawyers for Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awiti Bafoh appeared before the High Court’s Criminal Division today, pressing for bail as they continue to challenge her detention over alleged links to the controversial “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account.

Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a 40-year-old mother of three from Hansua near Techiman, was arrested at her home on September 13 and later charged with abetting the publication and circulation of false news, a charge tied to content allegedly produced by UK-based TikToker Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof.”

She pleaded not guilty before the Adentan Circuit Court, which denied her bail and remanded her for two weeks, prompting her legal team to escalate the matter to the High Court.

Speaking on the case, her lawyer struck a measured but pointed tone, saying, “We’re in the hands of the court, and we pray the law will protect the liberty of the innocent woman.”

The remark reflects the defence’s broader argument that Bafoh has been unfairly caught up in a case built around an account operator who, by the state’s own admission in court, remains outside Ghana’s jurisdiction in the UK.

The case has drawn attention beyond the courtroom, with Salomey Awiti Bafoh’s former schoolmates from Adventist Junior High School in Techiman publicly demanding her release, describing her as a quiet, non-political figure who bears no resemblance to the person portrayed in the prosecution’s case.

With the bail application now before the High Court, all eyes are on whether the judge will grant her release while the broader investigation into the Ghana Jollof network continues.
