Mid Lagos/Ogun based indigenous radio station, Miliki 101.3 FM, has marked its fourth anniversary with a colourful reception and special awards ceremony, recognising some of its most loyal and engaging listeners with cash prizes and commendation for their outstanding participation in the station’s programmes.
The anniversary celebration, which was held on Tuesday at the station’s office in Ojodu-Abiodun, Lagos, brought together members of the management, staff, radio fans, listeners, community stakeholders and dignitaries to celebrate four years of broadcasting, entertainment, cultural promotion and community engagement.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Best Caller Award, an initiative designed to appreciate listeners who have consistently contributed to the station’s programmes through their calls, opinions, interactions and constructive participation.
Emerging as the overall winner was Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Anike Salami, while Oluwafunmilayo Oba and Oluwafunmilayo Onafuwa Julius emerged as the second- and third-place winners, respectively.
The three recipients were presented with recognition and cash awards in appreciation of their loyalty and active participation.
Speaking at the anniversary reception, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Miliki FM, Chief Henry Ajomale, expressed gratitude to the station’s listeners and supporters across Nigeria and beyond for keeping the Miliki dream alive over the past four years.
Chief Ajomale said the journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the station’s audience, noting that Miliki FM had grown beyond being a conventional radio station to become a platform through which people connect, share ideas, celebrate their culture and engage with their communities.
He particularly commended the station’s workforce for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to maintaining the station’s standards.
According to him, the consistency and transparent efforts of the staff have contributed significantly to Miliki FM’s continued reputation as the “King of the Airwaves”, Oba Ori Afefe.
The chairman, who attended the occasion alongside his wife, Adetoun Ajomale, and his son, Hon. Ladi Ajomale, said the station remained committed to providing quality programming that reflects the interests, aspirations and cultural identity of its listeners.
The anniversary also provided an opportunity for the Miliki Radio Fans Club to celebrate the management of the station and acknowledge its efforts towards sustaining a strong relationship with its audience.
Speaking at the event, the President of Miliki Radio Fans Club, Mr. Sanni Adegbenga Taofik, commended Chief Ajomale and the management for introducing and sustaining the annual listeners’ award.
Taofik described the initiative as an important tradition that demonstrates that Miliki FM values the people who make up its listening community.
He said the station came on air four years ago with a clear mission to entertain, inform and connect with the people, particularly those at the grassroots, while also preserving and promoting Yoruba heritage, culture and values.
According to him, that original vision has now grown into a movement with a loyal audience that extends far beyond Lagos and Ogun States.
“Four years ago, Miliki Radio came on air with a promise to entertain, inform and connect with the people, especially at the grassroots, and to preserve the Yoruba heritage by promoting its culture. Today, that promise has become a movement.”
Taofik further described Miliki FM as more than just a radio station, saying the relationship between the station and its listeners has developed into a family bond.
“As fans, we can boldly say that Miliki Radio is not just a station on the dial. It is a family.”
He praised the station’s programmes, music, news and community engagement, saying they have helped establish Miliki 101.3 FM as a major voice within its immediate broadcast environment and among listeners across the world.
He noted that the station’s reach has been significantly expanded by online streaming, making it possible for listeners outside Lagos and Ogun States, and even outside Nigeria, to participate in its programmes and remain connected to the Miliki family.
The celebration was also attended by prominent personalities and community leaders, including Otunba Jide Oni, Chairman of Isolo LCDA; Otunba Adebayo Olasoju; and the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede, among other distinguished guests.
The colourful gathering featured goodwill messages, entertainment, appreciation and the presentation of awards, reinforcing the bond between Miliki FM and its growing community of listeners.
As the station enters its fifth year, the anniversary celebration served not only as a moment to look back on four years of broadcasting but also as a renewed commitment to the values upon which Miliki FM was founded: community, culture, entertainment, information and connection.
With its “Oba Ori Afefe” identity and an increasingly diverse audience both on-air and online, Miliki 101.3 FM appears poised to continue its journey as a distinctive voice in grassroots broadcasting while strengthening the relationship between the station and the people it serves.
