Nigerian skitmaker and streamer Carter Efe has sparked concern after using cement during a livestream, with reports that the stunt almost affected his eyesight.
The content creator was seen playing with cement during the livestream, prompting reactions from viewers who questioned why he would put himself at risk for content.
The incident has led to renewed discussion about the dangers of direct exposure to cement, particularly when it comes into contact with the eyes or remains on the skin for extended periods.
Portland cement can irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory system. Wet cement is alkaline and can cause skin irritation, dermatitis and, with prolonged exposure, chemical burns. Cement dust can also irritate the eyes and respiratory tract.
Eye contact is particularly concerning. NIOSH advises that the eyes should be irrigated immediately after exposure, while contaminated skin should be washed promptly.
Reacting to Carter Efe’s stunt, social media users expressed concern and criticised what they described as dangerous content.
