NACOC Deploys More Officers, Sniffer Dogs To Accra Airport Over Drug Trafficking Surge

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intensified its operations at the Kotoka International Airport following a recent surge in suspected drug trafficking cases.

As part of the renewed measures, NACOC has deployed additional officers, trained sniffer dogs and new equipment to strengthen screening and detection efforts at the airport.

The team is expected to screen passengers arriving in and departing from the country as authorities step up efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics through Ghana’s main international airport.

The sniffer dogs will assist officers in detecting suspected narcotics, while the additional personnel and equipment are expected to enhance the commission’s ability to identify and intercept illicit drugs.

The intensified operation comes amid growing attention to the movement of narcotics through Ghana’s borders, particularly through major entry and exit points.

Passengers travelling through the airport may therefore be subjected to enhanced screening as NACOC officers work to detect suspected attempts to conceal and transport illegal drugs.

The commission’s latest deployment forms part of broader efforts to strengthen drug control and enforcement at the country’s international gateways.

Authorities are expected to maintain the enhanced checks as officers continue monitoring passengers and luggage for possible narcotics trafficking activities.
