Nigeria’s national oil company has said a truck caught carrying dr@gs was not theirs and someone was using fake company markings on it.
The NNPCL said the truck stopped by the drug enforcement agency in Ondo State was never part of their fleet and didn’t belong to them.
The vehicle’s registration number didn’t match anything in their records.
They praised the drug agency for catching whoever was using the fake markings to move the cannabis.
The company said the logo on the truck didn’t match their current branding, and the vehicle was never listed in their database.
They’re now working with transport associations to figure out how their old markings ended up on a truck being used for illicit purposes.
NNPCL is taking the unauthorised use of its name and logo seriously, especially when it’s connected to illegal activity.
They’re reviewing how they monitor their brand and protect their corporate identity.
The company said it will work fully with the drug enforcement agency and other security officials to investigate what happened and find out who actually owned and operated the truck.
The company is warning the public to verify the ownership of any vehicles claiming to belong to NNPCL through official channels.
They remain committed to working with authorities to stamp out drug trafficking.
