Notorious bandit commander Kachalla Hare reportedly killed in Zamfara

The Nigerian military has reportedly eliminated another notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Hare, during an encounter with security forces in Zamfara State.
Hare was said to have terrorised communities around Mada in Gusau Local Government Area and parts of neighbouring Bungudu LGA.
The development was disclosed by Bakatsine, a journalist who reports on conflicts in North-West Nigeria, in a post on X.
According to reports, Hare and his fighters engaged security operatives near Gusami village, located between Bungudu and Gusau, resulting in the deaths of several bandits.
Hare was reportedly captured during the encounter after sustaining serious injuries.
He was said to have been found with ammunition in his possession and later died from his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.
Bakatsine said there had been earlier speculation that Hare was killed following the elimination of one of his associates days ago, but the reports could not be immediately confirmed at the time.
His reported death comes amid sustained military operations against bandit groups operating across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West.
The Nigerian military has intensified its offensive against terrorist and bandit groups in the region, targeting several commanders in recent months.
