The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council in a bid to setting up a nationwide structure with coordinators across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council, announced on Thursday, also features directors responsible for grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology, administration and other specialised areas.
John Ughulu, the movement’s Director-General, will serve as Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani is listed among the campaign leadership.
The structure gives each geopolitical zone a designated coordinator. Suleiman Abubakar was named for North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for North-West, Amadu Gwambe for North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for South-East.
Ibrahim Jabir will coordinate the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while the council has also appointed coordinators for all 36 states.
The appointments extend to specialised campaign functions. Rev. Mike Agbon will oversee the Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria, while Sabo Gashua takes charge of Grassroots Mobilisation and Glory Adayi heads Women Affairs.
Kabir Yahaya was appointed Director of Contact and Engagement, Abdumumini Tijjani Director of Mobilisation and Yusuf Mani Director of Special Duties. Peace Daful will handle Procurement, while Prof Charles Nwekeaku was named Director of the South Eastern Town Hall.
Sunmisola Adebayo will oversee Information Technology, Kingdom Okere will direct Legal Affairs and Abiodun Dabiri will head Strategy and Planning. Richard Enemona, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman takes charge of Administration.
The campaign structure is being established to support the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), according to the movement.
In a message to members of the council, Sani said their appointments were a call to service and assigned them the task of taking the movement’s message from national and urban centres to local governments, wards and communities.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she stated.
She added that the campaign would require coordination, grassroots mobilisation, communication and collective work among council members.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation,” Sani said.
The unveiling is subsequent to the movement’s August decision to retain its independent organisational structure rather than merge with another political organisation. At the time, its leadership also reaffirmed Ughulu’s position as founder and Director-General.
The appointments, therefore, give the movement a defined chain of coordination from its national leadership through geopolitical zones and states to the grassroots as it organises for the 2027 presidential contest.
