The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered three firearms, 25 ATM cards and two vehicles suspected to have been stolen during an 11-day security operation across the state.
The command also seized several mobile phones and electrical components and impounded eight vehicles allegedly obstructing traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the developments in a statement detailing a series of operations conducted between September 17 and 26, 2026.
The arrests covered separate cases involving alleged motorcycle theft, vehicle theft, fraud, possession of firearms, suspected cult activity and the movement of stolen electrical materials.

One of the investigations began after a commercial TVS motorcycle was reportedly stolen. Detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division traced the motorcycle to Mokoloki village, where they arrested Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye on September 17.
Police said a third suspect, identified only as Saheed, fled and is being sought.
Two days later, officers from the Olorunda Division intercepted three people along Ayetoro Road while they were allegedly transporting stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle.
Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, were arrested, while another suspect, Tosin, escaped.
The recovered materials included bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box reportedly taken from a nearby residence.
The command’s Special Weapons and Tactics team also recorded another breakthrough on September 21 after stopping an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle in Dalemo, Ota.
Three men, Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30, were arrested.
According to the police, preliminary findings connected the trio with alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis. Investigators are also working to establish whether other people were involved.
A separate financial crime investigation produced one of the largest recoveries in the operation.
On September 22, officers attached to the Igbesa Division arrested 45-year-old Ameachine Anthony over an alleged N2.5 million fraud.
Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were recovered from him.
Babaseyi said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly used utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards through associates to facilitate the opening of bank accounts before collecting ATM cards for fraudulent transactions.
Anthony and the recovered items were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The same day, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following intelligence about a suspected cult-related gathering.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, with police recovering one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.
Investigators are examining how the firearms came into the suspects’ possession and whether other individuals were connected to the case.
In Ijebu-Ode, detectives also recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan after what the command described as discreet investigation, intelligence gathering and tracking.
The vehicle was secured as an exhibit while inquiries continued.
The operation extended beyond arrests and crime investigations. On September 26, police impounded eight vehicles allegedly parked in a manner that obstructed traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
The command said the vehicles would be processed for prosecution on September 28 as part of efforts to ease traffic movement and improve safety around the busy interchange.
Taken together, the figures offer a snapshot of the range of offences confronting law enforcement across Ogun during the period. The police recovered firearms associated with a suspected cult-related case, financial instruments linked to an alleged fraud investigation, vehicles and motorcycles connected to suspected theft cases, as well as electrical materials allegedly taken from a residence.
The command said the operations reflected its intelligence-led approach to crime detection and public safety.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operations and acknowledged public cooperation in providing information.
The command also encouraged residents to report credible security information through the Gateway Shield distress lines as investigators continue to process the cases and pursue suspects who escaped arrest.
The suspects are yet to be convicted of the allegations against them. The ongoing investigations are expected to determine the circumstances of each case and establish whether the arrested individuals should face prosecution.
