One Dead, Others Injured As Plantain-Laden Truck Crashes At Agogo–Konongo Amantena Junction

A truck loaded with plantains has veered off the road and crashed into nearby bushes at the Agogo–Konongo Amantena Junction, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The vehicle, which had been on its way to deliver its consignment of plantains, reportedly lost control along the stretch before careening off the road entirely.

The impact left both the truck and its cargo scattered and destroyed, with images from the scene showing the mangled remains of the vehicle’s frame buried beneath heaps of plantains flung across the roadside.

Our reporters gathered that one person lost their life in the crash, while several others sustained injuries and have since been rushed to Agogo Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been fully disclosed.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, though such crashes along Ghana’s highways are frequently linked to factors such as speeding, poor vehicle maintenance, brake failure, or driver fatigue, issues that continue to plague long-distance haulage in many parts of the country.

The Agogo–Konongo stretch has seen its share of road accidents in the past, adding to concerns among residents and transport operators about the safety of the route.
