Osun police arrest three suspected thugs over armed robberry

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals allegedly terrorising residents and students around Oke-Baale and its environs in Osogbo, the state capital.
The suspects identified by the command are Abass Quadri, 26 years of age; Olanrewaju Joshua, 24 years of age; and Yusuf Taiwo, 25 years of age.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the statement, “the arrest followed complaints from students of the Osun State University, Oke-Baale, over the alleged incessant activities of criminals along their daily transit routes.”
Ojelabi said police operatives embarked on patrol and raided a suspected criminal hideout on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, during which the three suspects were arrested.
The command alleged that the suspects would forcefully stop students whenever they encountered them and threaten them during the attacks.
The suspects were also accused of collecting students’ mobile phones and forcing them to transfer money to them.
“Their modus-operandi was that, anytime they see the students, they will forcefully stop them, threaten them, collect their phones and force them to transfer money to them,” the statement said.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the three suspects had been charged to court, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other persons allegedly involved in the criminal activities.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or threats to the nearest police station.
