Pupils and teachers in all public secondary schools in the four local government areas of Osogbo, Olorunda, Irepodun and Orolu, have received a total of 100,000 free notebooks from a foundation as part of efforts to ensure smooth take off of the new academic session for the beneficiaries.
The notebooks were presented on behalf of Ibraheem Taofeek, the chairman of the ITK Foundation, by the project coordinator, Desmond Adekanola in Osogbo, Osun State on Friday.
Adekanola, who commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Education, Murtala Jimoh, for approving the distribution of the notebooks, assured that the Foundation will make the gesture an annual event.
“The programme is about the distribution of 100,000 free exercise books to students. It was born out of the philanthropic mission of Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode to reach out to youths and ease the burden on parents.
“In his love for education, knowing fully well that education is the bedrock of any reasonable society, the ITK Foundation decided to assist parents by reaching out to secondary school students across the 50 secondary schools in Osogbo Federal Constituency.
“The books will be moved from the campaign office to every school, and all the students will be beneficiaries, including the school staff. We have also made provision for the teachers and principals of each school.

“We thank the Governor for permitting us to hold this programme. We also thank the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and the Nigerian Union of Teachers for their support,” Adekanola said.
Speaking on the choice of schools in Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency, Adekanola said Taofeek, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Federal Constituency in the 2027 poll, chose to launch the initiative from his immediate communities before expanding it to other parts of the State.
Adekanola further said, “Charity, they say, begins at home. That is why ITK started from his federal constituency. As time goes on, we will extend our hands of fellowship to other constituencies as well, especially Osun Central.
“But currently, we are starting with Osogbo Federal Constituency, which comprises Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo and Orolu Local Governments. It is going to be an annual programme. At the beginning of every academic session, ITK will continue to support students and ease the burden on parents.
“Ibraheem Taofeek is a politician and a philanthropist, but this is strictly a philanthropic gesture. ITK is reaching out to people not because of politics, but because of his philanthropic nature,” he added.
