More than 3,000 residents have reportedly been displaced following severe flooding in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.
The flooding occurred after about nine hours of continuous rainfall caused the River Dayi to overflow its banks, sending large volumes of water into nearby communities.
More than 400 homes have reportedly been affected, with several houses submerged and families forced to leave their homes in search of safer places.
Residents of Hohoe Zongo are among those severely affected, as floodwaters have entered homes and disrupted daily activities in the community.
Some affected residents have been left without essential belongings, with the extent of the damage raising concerns about their immediate welfare and accommodation.
Residents are now appealing for urgent assistance from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Members of Parliament, government agencies and benevolent organisations.
They are calling for relief items and other forms of support to help families who have been displaced and those whose homes and properties have been affected by the flooding.
Residents are hoping that support will reach the affected communities as they begin dealing with the aftermath of the flooding.
