The Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals has set a target of mobilising 10 million votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The Convener and Chairman of the forum, and Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr Kazeem Kolawale Raji, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja when he led a delegation of the forum to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
Raji said the forum would pursue the mobilisation target through lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based grassroots engagement, leveraging the professional and community networks associated with federal agencies across the country.
He said one of the forum’s key objectives was to bridge the communication gap between government policies and the public by ensuring that the achievements, reforms and measurable outcomes of the Tinubu administration were accurately documented and communicated to Nigerians.
According to a statement by the head of information in the office of the SGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the delegation was received on behalf of Akume by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens.
Akume, who was conferred with the position of Grand Patron of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals, commended the members for organising themselves into a cohesive body with a shared vision.
He noted that the structures on the ground and the forum’s mathematical projections made its proposed target of mobilising 10 million votes for the president achievable.
The SGF charged the CEOs to take the administration’s Renewed Hope reforms to the grassroots and counter what he described as disinformation surrounding the government’s economic policies.
“In your various domains where your power is operative, ensure that people become aware of these achievements. Push this message down to the grassroots, because one thing I’ve observed in the policy right now is a lot of disinformation,” Akume said.
He added that the reforms were not designed to impoverish Nigerians, urging the forum to promote the administration’s image through effective communication.
“This reform policy is not meant to imprison or impoverish Nigerians, and that is the narrative that has been spread down to the grassroots. Push this message to help promote the image of this administration,” he stated.
Akume assured the forum of the continued institutional support of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) in achieving its strategic objectives.
He also urged the leadership to maintain momentum and establish a structured framework for sustained collaboration with the OSGF, stressing the importance of effective communication and tracking of the forum’s objectives and initiatives.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr Chidiebere John Ezeamama, called for the establishment of a centralised digital platform to facilitate real-time information sharing, coordinate inter-agency participation and track developmental milestones.
Ezeamama said the platform would also enable the forum to function as a work-related communication network with the OSGF, ensuring that its achievements were communicated to the office for documentation.
The meeting also featured the formal conferment of the position of Patron on Akume by Raji, who cited the SGF’s leadership and role in coordinating government activities.
