Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has accused the Benue State Government of disregarding the rule of law and engaging in what he described as witch-hunts against opponents.
Ortom made the claim while speaking about his experience after leaving office, alleging that vehicles legitimately allocated to him by the state government were seized.
According to him, he challenged the seizure in court and emerged victorious, with the court ordering the state government to return the 23 vehicles and pay ₦5 million in damages.
“We have a government in Benue State that does not believe in the rule of law. It engages in witch-hunts and runs down its opponents. After I left office, vehicles legitimately allocated to me by the government were seized. I went to court, defeated them, and the court ordered them to pay ₦5 million in damages and return the 23 vehicles,” Ortom said.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, particularly over his disclosure that 23 vehicles had been allocated to him.
