Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have made history by breaking an 87-year-old record for the longest consecutive scoring streak in top-flight league football.
The achievement came in their 1-1 draw against Al Khaleej on Saturday.
The record-breaking goal was scored by substitute Abdullah Al-Hamdan, who executed a remarkable strike from outside the box in the second half, equalising after Al Khaleej had taken an early lead.
In addition to securing a point for Al Nassr, this goal extended the club’s scoring streak to 94 consecutive matches in the Saudi Pro League, surpassing the previous all-time record by one match.
This record had been held since the 1930s by the Argentine club River Plate, which scored in 93 consecutive league matches from September 1936 to June 1939.
Al Nassr’s scoring streak began on December 8, 2023, with a 4-1 victory over Al Riyadh, following a 3-0 loss to Al Hilal, which was the last match in which the club failed to score in the league.
Since then, Ronaldo and his teammates have scored in every Saudi Pro League match they have played, ultimately matching and then exceeding River Plate’s nearly nine-decade-old record.
