Staff of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, are still basking in euphoria over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s approval of the Consolidated Tertiary Education Salary Structure (CONTEDISS), a benefit they have enjoyed since 2024.
The College Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Omoyeni, described the gesture as a huge testament to the governor’s prioritisation of workers’ welfare.
According to him, the approval ended many years of unsuccessful agitation by the workers, who had taken their demands to previous administrations through organised labour without success.
“To the glory of God and the surprise of many, the Governor announced the approval of the improved salary scale for the College even without agitation. It came at a time when the workers had lost hope,” he stated.
Omoyeni noted that through the gesture, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to workers’ welfare and recognised the efforts of the College staff, ensuring they are on par with their contemporaries in other tertiary institutions across the state.
He added that the approval also demonstrates the governor’s understanding that the College is focused on a specialised field of health training, hence the need to motivate its workforce.
“The College is one of the best health training institutions in the country, and it is obvious that the Governor wants it to remain so, reason for his various interventions in matters that affect the College,” he said.
Omoyeni said the gesture has proven that the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, is ranked among the top tertiary institutions on the governor’s list for interventions that will keep it afloat and relevant among its peers in training quality health professionals.
He disclosed that since the approval of CONTEDISS, members of staff have been repaying the gesture with renewed vigour, strength and commitment to their duties, with day-to-day activities running smoothly and efficiently.
“Members of staff are happy because they know that their welfare is paramount to Governor Ademola Adeleke and has indeed backed it up with action through the implementation of the CONTEDISS salary scale for them,” Omoyeni added.
The staff praised the governor for his interventions in infrastructure and workers’ welfare, saying the College has never had it so good under any previous administration.
