Hundreds of students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo, have staged a peaceful protest following an overnight attack on one of the female hostels outside the institution’s premises.
The attackers allegedly invaded the hostel in the early hours of Monday, September 21, 2026, dispossessing students of their phones and other valuables.
According to reports, a female student was allegedly r@ped during the attack and later sustained serious injuries, including the loss of one of her fingers. She was reportedly taken to a hospital in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo for treatment.
A students’ union official said the latest incident was the second reported attack on students’ hostels within two weeks. He added that students had previously raised concerns with school authorities and were assured that security measures would be improved.
The students subsequently protested at the college gate, calling on the Taraba State Government and security agencies to urgently intervene and protect them.
