“Tell Our Stories” – FG To Engage 4,000 Social Media Influencers To Showcase Tinubu Administration’s Projects

  • The Federal Government plans to engage 4,000 social media influencers to showcase infrastructure projects and other achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
  • Minister of Works David Umahi disclosed the plan in Abuja on September 22, 2026, saying the network would help communicate the government’s projects to Nigerians, particularly young people, as the 2027 general election approaches.

The Federal Government has announced plans to engage 4,000 social media influencers to showcase infrastructure projects and communicate the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to Nigerians.

Minister of Works David Umahi disclosed this on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Abuja while receiving a report from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) after their inspection of federal road projects across Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Sokoto states.

Speaking about the need to strengthen the government’s presence on social media, Umahi said, “We have to fight this social media war. So, we have to launch 4,000 social media influencers to tell our stories.”

He said the proposed network would help the government communicate its projects and achievements directly to Nigerians, particularly young people who are active on social media.

Umahi also said the administration had enough infrastructure projects across the country to communicate to the public, adding that he was proud of the President’s work in the sector.

Details on how the 4,000 influencers would be selected, paid or deployed have not been publicly disclosed in the reports reviewed.

The announcement has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users questioning the need for influencers to showcase government projects, while others welcomed the proposed effort to communicate the administration’s work online.
